Another Fall Seeding Option ...

posted Aug 12, 2011 8:36 AM by Doug Hyde
Winter Triticale provides you with another option for fall seeding.  This crop is gaining consumer interest, and is used in the specialty baking industry, either by itself to make flat breads such as chapatis, or in a blend with wheat flour to add a distinct nutty flavour to leavened breads.  Triticale flour does not have a high enough gluten content to perform well by itself in leavened bread.

It is also used as a grazing and/or forage crop - with it's regrowth potential being it's main advantage over other fall seeded options.

We have Pika Winter Triticale seed available for purchase. Call us at 1(204)526-2145, or drop us an e-mail at sales@zeghersseed.com for more information on growing triticale.
